Kindergarten Cops: Beijing Board of Ed to Randomly Inspect Nursery Schools
Mar 19, 2015 By eChinacities.com

From mid-March to mid-April, the Beijing Board of Education will send inspection teams into kindergartens throughout the city to inspect day to day student teacher interactions and see whether the schools are correctly preparing students to enter primary school. If there are problems, the kindergarten will be graded badly and the head of school will be held accountable.

The random inspections will check if the kindergarten teaches English, pinyin, and simple math. Inspectors will also evaluate the capabilities of the school's teachers. No nursery school is safe from inspection: private, public, small schools and schools with many branches are all open to the check.

Officials also noted that city's educational policy that states that children should be taught to cultivate good habits and understand the world around them. The Beijing Board of Education recently put forth a special file that prohibits nursery school teachers from teaching curriculum from the city's primary schools. Looks like too many schools were trying to get a head start on first grade!
