Malaysian Man Caught Stealing 3 Million Yuan Worth of Cartier Watches in Beijing
Mar 18, 2015 By eChinacities.com

The news that a man had robbed the Cartier store in Wangfujing, Beijing exploded on Weibo yesterday.  The thief in question made off with 11 extremely fancy watches worth a total of over 3 million Yuan, a slight step up from the fake Rolexes being sold around the corner. The masked robber was caught on tape stealing a taxi and fleeing the scene.

The robber did not make it very far with his loot. According to a witness, the man was arrested in a building near the east Second Ring Road shortly after, only two kilometers away from Wangfujing. 20 police vehicles and more than 50 special and armed police amassed outside the building. The thief was apprehended by police and taken away in handcuffs. Don't mess with Cartier!

The Beijing Public Security Bureau later reported that the suspect had been identified as a 38 year old Malaysian man named Moikit Leng. Leng is still in the custody of the Beijing police.

300 million yuan? That means an average of 27 million yuan per watch! I don't think so.

I have to agree. That's like 4-5 million USD per watch. Yeah right!
