The concept design for Beijing’s planned new airport terminal in Daxing District has been released. Zaha Hadid and ADPI the French owners of Charles De Gaulle and Orly airports in Paris won the bid to design the new Daxing International Airport.

At 700,000 square meters, the new terminal will be the largest passenger terminal in the world and is estimated to cost around 13.8 billion USD to complete.

The new airport will initially handle an annual passenger flow of around 45 million, but will eventually be expanded to handle a passenger flow of 100 million, if all goes according to plan.

This will be the third time that Hadid has put her stamp on the city; other famous projects in Beijing include the futuristic Galaxy and Wangjing SOHO’s as well as the Guangzhou Opera House.
