Hunan University Caught Sneakily Transferring Well-Connected Students

Hunan University Caught Sneakily Transferring Well-Connected Students

Hunan University, a relatively prestigious university in Changsha, has reversed the transfer of 17 students after reports disclosed that the reasons for transfer were suspicious to say the least.  The students in question also all happened to have connections to the university and regional educational authorities.

According to a Xinhua report, students were given transfers from lower ranked universities on such arbitrary reasons as being “allergic to oil paintings” and “unaccustomed to the weather”.

Of the 17 who were transferred, several were relatives of employees of the university, while others had connections with local education authorities.

Hunan University has now reversed the decision after the details of the students and the circumstances of their transfer circulated on the internet.

The practice of transferring connected students into top universities through back channels is known as ’invisible welfare’. Moreover, the system of transferring is inherently unfair as there is little transparency and most students are unaware of how the procedure of transferring works, or indeed that it exists as an option.

The Party Chief of the University was reprimanded alongside three other officials, including the president of the university, and the students are being investigated.

[....students were given transfers from lower ranked universities on such arbitrary reasons as being “allergic to oil paintings” and “unaccustomed to the weather”] Right, the higher ranking universities have non-allergic oil paintings and the pollution in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou they can accustom to. Who did these kids ask for ideas, their corrupted uncles and aunties who got out of jail on medical grounds such as 'the food here is driving me crazy'? LOL. With their kind of family background, why not simply tell the truth for once, such as 'we are allergic and unaccustomed to classmates who don't drive Porsches, Ferraris, and have less than RMB 2 billion in their saving account. Our friends and guanxi network are in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou'? Ooopps, for a moment I forgot this is China, the majority here is allergic and unaccustomed to telling the truth. LOL

I find this very hard to believe. I think this must be a mistake, this never happens here in China.
