A chauffeur who used a stolen sex tape to blackmail his employers has been jailed for four years, Shanghai Daily reports.

56-year-old Cao found the tape in 2007 when he was helping his employers, Tong and Li, move furniture. He then copied the tape onto his computer and kept it until 2013, when he quit because the couple moved house. He asked Tong to find him a position in his company, but was rejected.

He then tried bringing a labor dispute case against the couple in the courts, but lost-that’s when Cao decided to play dirty.

Last March. he registered a Wechat account using Tong’s photo and cell phone number and uploaded several screen shots of the video. Tong immediately contacted him and offered 400,000 RMB for the footage. Cao agreed, but posted more a month later when he still hadn’t received the money.

He was arrested on April 24 during the exchange as the couple handed money to him and the video was taken from his flat.

Cao maintains that what he did was fair play and the money was compensation for seven years of service. The court wasn’t too impressed with this defense however and sentenced him to prison for extortion.
