Update: Chongqing Passenger Fined 35,000 RMB
Jan 15, 2015 By eChinacities.com

A middle aged passenger who was arrested for opening the emergency door and setting off the emergency slide of a plane while it was taxiing on the runway has been fined 35,000 RMB and been ‘educated’ by airport authorities.

The man apparently said it was a ‘mistake’ and he had misunderstood a flight attendant’s instructions, according to CCTV. It has proven a costly one although it’s not as bad as it could have been- the maximum fine for this kind of security breach is 100,000 RMB.

That's the thing, though...when you sit in the seats nearest to the exit door, the stewardesses stand right next to you and make sure that you listen through the safety lecture. You have to orally confirm that you understand and accept your responsibilites to the other passengers if there is an emergency--and the bulk of your responsibilities is popping the door open if and only if the plane is going down in flames. Chinese passengers are their own hell--they not only lack common sense, but they never freaking listen.

They don't want to listen or learn. They always know better. Now look, these clowns open the emergency doors.

any time i have asked a Chinese person 'do you understand?', they always say 'Yes, yes, yes'. So if i want to check their understating, i ask them to repeat in their own words what i have just said
