CCTV Announces Hollywood Movies Coming to China this Year
Jan 08, 2015 By eChinacities.com

CCTV has announced some of the Hollywood movies that will be gracing our screens this year.

China is extremely strict in regards to how many foreign films are allowed to be imported and screened every year. Last year it was 34, although previously it was only 20, despite lobbying by Hollywood to have the quota expanded or possibly completely lifted.

Hollywood blockbusters tend to do extremely well in the mainland; this year, Transformers: Age of Extinction became the highest grossing movie of all time in mainland China and domestic box office sales continue to climb.

Most of the movies seem to be big budget action type films, although a couple of random outliers have also snuck in, such as Predestination, a low budget sci-fi movie starring Ethan Hawke and Ted 2.

Here are some of the selection:

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Mission Impossible: 5
Jurassic World
Terminator Genisys
The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

From the domestic side we can expect a sequel to the wildly popular Lost in Thailand and a fourth installment of the Tiny Times series, featuring the immortal Chinglish tagline: To be end, to be start.

Can't help staring at the abyssal zone? Those almond eyes are all over Asia. Needless to say not all are a steal especially when you are in the land of counterfeits.... LOL
