A government official in Hunan Province is under investigation after a picture of him wearing a Louis Vuitton belt went viral.

Li Jianguo, the general manager of the state-owned Rucheng County Water and Electricity Company, is now being investigated by the local CPC discipline watchdog, after sharp-eyed netizens began questioning how he could afford such expensive accessories.

According to the Shanghai Daily, the watchdog has announced that Li is under suspicion of violating Party regulations.

Li is certainly not the first official to be felled by an inconvenient photograph. Last week, photographs of a Fuzhou housing official enjoying himself a little too much at a KTV were leaked online prompting an internal investigation by Party disciplinary authorities.

The belt could be a fake. I buy all that stuff from the Shenzhen markets all the time for next to nothing.
