With the battle against corruption continuing, a survey by the Social Survey Center of China Youth Daily shows that 73% of people agree with the death penalty as a punishment in corruption cases.

The survey was conducted on November 4, and 2,105 people responded in total. The number of people supporting the death penalty for corruption cases is surprisingly high, as it comes at a time when China has just scrapped the death penalty for nine crimes.

These crimes include counterfeiting, fraud’ulent fund-raising, forcing others into prostitution, smuggling ammunition, counterfeit currency, nuclear materials, or weapons, and fabricating rumours to mislead others during wartime. Sentences for these crimes would not entail life imprisonment, The New York Times reports.

In a lot of cases in corruption actually causes a lot more harm to more people than murder. A murderer who kills a person ruins that life and the lives of that person's family. A corrupt SOB who embezzles millions from a public hospital (recent high profile case in my city) is causing loads more harm. Hang the piece of human filth I say!
