October 31 is here: Halloween. And the Beijing subway is taking precautions to avoid mass panic – anyone who tries to get on the subway in a fancy dress or with horror make-up with be refused entry, and in serious cases, may be detained.
In the last two years, the day preceding Halloween and on the day itself, a lot of people in costume were on the subway, gathering there and lingering, forming crowds. Most of them were gathering to attend Halloween events in CBD or around Bar Street in Sanlitun.
The police would like to remind everyone that today’s Friday rush hour is busy, and there will be a lot of staff. Please do not ride the subway nor linger in the subway station in your Halloween costume, but find another suitable place to celebrate Halloween.

`` to get on the subway in a fancy dress`` Okay... you better not put on any nice clothes women! No fancy dresses! You might incite a panic! Why are Chinese so frail that a few people in a costume would intice a mass panic in a developed capital like Beijing... I thought China opened up, shouldn`t the capital be a symbol of tolerance, enlightenment, integrity... Bah who am I kidding!

Old people and immigrant youths do this in my country too. But they usually hang around shopping malls. I'm curious how they're gonna enfore the no loitering imperative to commuters who paid for tickets.

And I thought Beijing couldn't get more embarrassing. People have stampeded in the subway for no reason.
