In America, The College Board is investigating potential cheating incidents involving Chinese and Korean students and the SAT examinations they took nearly three weeks ago on October 11. The board announced that they have taken allegations of cheating seriously, and have denounced all organisations that sell the test in advance.

The concern is so serious, the Washington Post reported, that the SAT scores are being delayed in Korea and China. Students here did not receive their scores, but instead an email from The College Board explaining that they were still in the middle of investigating said allegations.

The scandal involved a tip from a student that the October 14 International SAT test was equivalent to the American version from December 2013, leading students to discuss it online on forums while looking up the information and relevant vocab.

Asia has encountered these issues before: there are many test sites in China that are not allowed to host the SAT, due to previous cheating incidents. However, many Chinese students’ college applications are affected by this incident, as US college deadlines are looming.
