The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television has announced that it has ordered TV stations to stop broadcasting existing material featuring celebrities who use drugs or visit prostitutes. These celebrities will also no longer be invited to appear on any new material across the entire country’s media.

The ban is put in place to keep the industry healthy, and will apply across all films, advertisements, TV and radio shows.

This news comes following the arrest of Jaycee Chan, Kungfu superstar Jackie Chan’s son, after drugs were found in his apartment, and Kai Ko, a Taiwanese Actor who was caught using drugs in Jaycee Chan’s apartment. These were not the only celebrities caught in the whirlwind of China’s latest crackdown on drugs and prostitution.

The China Daily reports that Zhang Mo, son of actor and director Zhang Guoli was also arrested as a result of drug abuse last July, a month after screenwriter and novelist Chen Wanning, known mainly by his online name Ning Caishen.
