Zhengzhou Man Commits Suicide over Iphone 6 Price Drop
Sep 30, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A young man in Zhengzhou committed suicide on September 28 allegedly over the sudden and dramatic drop in Iphone 6 prices.

The man was a mobile phone salesman and had been hoarding a large number of Iphone 6’s, no doubt waiting for the price to increase. However, contrary to his predictions, the price has been falling continuously for the past three days, meaning the man lost an estimated 1 million RMB.

He committed suicide by jumping from the 19th floor of Zhengzhou Communications Xintiandi at approximately 16:30.

Lost 1 Mil RMB? Was that profit or outright loss? At outright loss it is 167 phones if the price used is 6000. As in 1,000,000/6000=166.666666666 I am not good at maths either though. (That is why I used the calculator.) His real problem was holding on to them and simply not selling them right away. He should have sold them for even a smaller profit instead of storing them. Additionally, even if he sold them when the price fell for less, then the loss would have been less. In many ways this article would perplex anyone who studied just one class of economics. I mean studied it, not just memorized it to pass the AP test.
