A Guangzhou woman’s marriage of convenience backfired after ten years, after US immigration rejected her application to immigrate to the United States.
A Mei, a Guangzhou resident, married A Hua, a mentally handicapped acquaintance in possession of a US green card after only knowing each other for a month. Afterwards, because the two had been living separately for a long time, without any contact, US immigration rejected A Mei’s immigration application.
A Mei then filed for divorce and was granted one on the grounds that the two had never established any kind of relationship during their marriage.
