Thailand to Build Two High Speed Railways Connecting Laos and South China
Aug 07, 2014 By eChinacities.com

The Bangkok post reported yesterday that the Thai military Junta government has invested over 700 billion THB in a new railway project that will connect Laos, South China and Thailand by highspeed train.

The new railway lines will pass through Chiang Kong in North Thailand and Nongkhai before passing through Laos and eventually connecting with southern Chinese railways.

Transportation Minister, Soithip Traisuth has said that the plan is to build two highspeed railway lines, one of which will eventually become a Kunming-Bangkok service and another that will provide high speed services between Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

Once completed, the South East Asian countries will hopefully benefit from elevated interconnectivity and economic cooperation with China.
