Guangdong province will be expanding its Wifi network to include 390,000 hotspots- 30,000 of which will be free- by the end of the year.
The announcement was made at a news conference on the province’s broadband development plans, July 9. There are currently 170,000 Wifi hotspots across the province.
The first batch of free hotspots will be launched in busy areas in the coming months, whilst free Wifi access is to be offered on public buses and metro services.
