Oh dear. Pictures of six young foreign males photographing themselves picking up and playing with an unconscious Chinese man have been circulating online, drawing harsh criticism of both the incident, which occurred in Sanlitun at around 05:30 on July 13, and the bystanders who failed to intervene.
In the pictures, the man can be seen being picked up and carried on the shoulders of the young men who took some photos and left him where they’d found him. Several bystanders including a rickshaw driver witnessed the incident and even took photos, but at no point did anyone attempt to help the man, or check to see if he needed medical assistance.
Netizens reacted angrily, of course, with one person complaining at the lack of police intervention: “The pictures are so clear, yet [the police] can’t find them? How can we allow foreigners to humiliate the Chinese people on our own streets?”. Another, rather astutely observed: “Chinese people are all like this. They will angrily protest and say these people must be severely punished but when actually encountering such a situation, they will hurriedly pass by.”
The best comment however, came from 阿冬哥很忙, who suggested that China sends it’s dancing grannies to invade the perpetrators’ countries in revenge.

come on! thats can't be a serious issue.... I remember the old times we used to stick our classmates head in the toilet... or when they are really drunk we dare them to run around the city naked.. and mostly they did... that nerved meant we had any bad ideas.. we all just were having fun,,,, well this drunken chinese dude... I bet he even cared if other people weren't feeding him this bull shit to care about... I bet he felt proud to be laughed at or played with...

It is not okay to humiliate a drunken guy - Chinese or not!, but also we should think about, that a person drinking until loosing consciousness and sleeping on the street does not need help to humiliate himself.

Maybe we should remind them about that 2 or 3 years old girl who has been hit by a car , then by a van minutes later , left there unconscious while people were quietly walking right next to her and totally ignoring her. Sure its much better to run to help a drunk guy being teased by some foreigners.

The Chinese people seemed pretty good at humiliating themselves. If the nationalistic netizens are so worried about being humiliated, they should be more concerned about the Chinese people tossing garbage on the streets, letting kids pee wherever they please, or the old women dancing in public. Also, love how all the outrage is about "foreigners" doing this (not that they even know what the nationalities of the offenders are). If Chinese people did this, then no worries.

Everyone was drunk, and nobody got hurt. For all we know, they all hail from the same campus, *including* the Chinese guy. But of course we will never know.
