No Late Nights for Airline Staff as Airlines Get Tough on World Cup

Various Chinese airlines have forbidden employees from staying up late to watch the World Cup over safety concerns.

The 11-hour time difference between Beijing and Rio de Janeiro means that for Chinese viewers, the world cup is aired between midnight and six in the morning.

Airlines are worried that their pilots will be fatigued and thus unable to fly to their best ability.

Shanghai low-cost airline Spring Airlines is enforcing mandatory blood pressure testing for employees, whilst China Southern Airlines has gone even further, by forbidding discussions about the World Cup at work.
