Couples who want to do their pre-wedding photo shoot at the Rockbund development are now being charged. Rockbund, along with the French Concession, is the hottest place for young couples to shoot their pre-wedding photo albums and the developers are now cashing in on this to the dismay of brides everywhere.

Recently Wang, an office worker, and her fiancée headed to Rockbund with their photographer, they were surprised to be told by a security guard that they’d have to pay a fee of 300 RMB for a two hour photo shoot, with an extra 50 RMB charge for every additional hour. She declined and took her photos in another location.

Couples wishing to have the photos taken on their actual wedding day don’t need to pay any fees however; they only need to leave a 100 RMB deposit which is returned when they leave.

Representatives from the Minghua Property Management Co. stated that before the charges were levied, there would be up to 20 groups a day taking photos and fighting over the best spots which didn’t exactly tie in with the ‘elegant and luxurious’ atmosphere they were trying to create.
