The rate of mainland Chinese people emigrating to other countries has shot up in the past couple of years, according to the United Nations 2013 World Migration Report. 9.3 million Chinese people emigrated last year, putting China in fourth place behind India, Mexico and Russia for highest volume of emigrants in the world.

America and Canada are the top destinations for wealthy Chinese people looking to move overseas, and the top cities are LA, San Francisco and Vancouver, closely followed by New York, Toronto and Seattle.

Quality of education, good environment and food safety are the main reasons mainlanders choose to emigrate, according to the report. The average cost of investment immigration is 5 million RMB.

9.3 millions in *ONE* year ?! That's * twice the population of a country like Norway or New-Zealand * half the population of Shanghai. * More than 10% of the population of France or Germany Can we get a source for this number, because that's absolutely huge.
