Tightened Security in Beijing subway stations has lead to enourmous queues and crowding outside subway stations. In scenes that looked like the entrance to a music festival, people shuffled along in long lines outside Tiantongyuanbei, Bajiao Amusement park and Longze stations, whilst security personnel conducted rigorous security checks on every passenger walking through.

The queues were so severe at Longze station where approximately 30,000 people pass through every day, that all the underpasses were chock full of people. Whilst some customers complained, others were appreciative of the extra security in light of the recent terror attacks which have rocked the nation and grabbed the attention of international media.
