China to Censor Internet More for ‘National Safety’
May 23, 2014 By eChinacities.com

In the “interest of national security and to safeguard the legitimate interests of internet users”, the Chinese government is preparing a system that will offer greater censorship. The system will limit certain IT systems and services related to national security.

Any products, websites or software programs found to not meet the safety requirements of the new system will not be allowed in Mainland China.

This seems to be a step in the opposite direction from most people would have liked, as control of China’s digital space is tightened by the powers that be.

Yeah, I am glad my big Middle Kingdom bro is looking out for me whenever I open a web browser. I just wish there was a censor to hold my hand... then everything would be ok!
