China’s Hongqi L5 Comparable to Rolls-Royce and Volvo Luxury Cars
May 13, 2014 By eChinacities.com

China’s luxury car, the Hongqi L5 (Hongqi meaning “Red Flag” - of course the top luxury car has a patriotic twist) is said to be in the same class as Rolls-Royce and Volvo’s more luxury models. The car was recently unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show and now lays claim to being the car of choice for China’s most wealthy.

The L5 will set you back 803,300 USD, which is just over 5 million RMB (5,009,822.04 RMB to be exact) and is officially China’s most expensive car. The producer, China FAW Group Corps, only makes them to order, and each one is tailored to the specifications of the owner. The car takes five months to reach its new, obviously fabulously wealthy, owner.

Why is it priced in USD? And, there's a basic marketing mistake there. It should be priced 888.888 USD......

Rolls Royce and VOLVO??? Volvo????? Who the hell decided to move volvo up ten tiers to Rolls territory? Did being bought by Geely have that much of an effect? Either this is a typo or the author of this article was reading an american car magazine from 1975. Which would explain all the Buicks I see everywhere. By the way. Who do you have to punch in the pancreas to get an article that wasnt written by the worlds laziest hobo? How about some information about the car? Engine size? Some pics? You very clearly took a headline from yahoo or something and didnt bother to read the article and then punched that headline into a paragraph. Do you get paid by word and your editor went cheap on you? Its pretty pathetic when you can read the entire websites content in under 10 minutes. Thank god for answers and readers blogs. Anytime anyone at the site wants to start giving a shit, that would be cool. Thanks!

Visit a construction plant, and count the foreign engineers doing the maintenance of the foreign-built robots. Visit a design centre and count the foreign managers.

I don't think so, just because somebody says "it is on par with Rolls Royce and Volvo" doesn't mean a thing. A car has to prove itself before making those claims. Besides, Chinese seem more obsessed with well-know brand names so that they can gain face. Driving one of these around town... nobody knows what it is...
