New Delhi Tops Beijing in New (Dubious) Air Pollution Study by WHO
May 09, 2014 By eChinacities.com

The results of a study done by the WHO on air quality indexes the world over have been released and it shows that Beijing does not, in fact, have the worst air pollution in the world; but the data seems to be flawed.

The study looked at the air quality of 1,600 cities and found New Delhi to be the worst, with 13 of the world’s 20 most polluted cities coming from India. Beijing ranked only 77th on the list but here’s where the problems come in. All the data used for the study was given to the WHO by the countries themselves, and China’s latest data provided was from 2010. For the purpose of the study, New Delhi reported an average PM2.5 reading of 153 while Beijing reported an average of only 56.

Air pollution and the amount of PM2.5 particles in the air has become a worldwide concern, promoting the WHO into performing the study. Air pollution was the cause of over 7 million deaths in 2012 alone. The study has noble roots but needs to be undertaken more precisely.

Easy to blame Beijing and the Chinese for this, but what the hell is wrong with the WHO? Blindly reporting the data countries provide themselves? Come on! Of course these data are biased. Any university dropout would know this research is worthless. I would expect a more solid approach from a reputable organization like the WHO.

no world organisation has ever been effective. League of nations was a good start that proved that no nation would listen. The UN and WHO are a great replacement as they too can't even exist if countries get upset with them because countries pay for them, hence nothing can actually be done. Has china let Taiwan into WHO yet? I remember they were excluded because China said no no, Taiwan can only enter if they are part of China. The US, the champions of the UN often delay and fail to pay their UN dues and if they don't like the UN, which is based in the US, the US will even bypass it and invade others regardless or use blatant lies and deceit. Apparently the UN charters that have been signed under the UN mean absolutely nothing to countries, that they blatantly and obviously get disregarded. Russia and China have effectively said F45k you and do whatever they want in other nations and nations waters. Japan said the same thing to the League prior to WW2 and Germany just said "sure, we won't do anything bad, here is our signed confession of being super nice to everyone" ...... In other words, you will get more out of watching Doctor Who than thinking the WHO can do anything practical.
