The latest app that will make your life easier in Shenzhen is called Yitingche (Easy to Park is the English name for the app) which will assist drivers in parking in the city.

The app will both help you pay for parking, as well as tell you where available parking spaces are. For an even more convenient parking experience, the city is also installing 1,673 new parking spaces to ease the parking woes of the growing car-owning population. Authorities also hope to add a total of 12,000 more spaces by the end of the year.

Drivers will now also be able to receive notifications on their phones if they have 10 minutes of time left on their parking meters. If they exceed their time limit then the will incur fines.

There's a lot of underground parking space in my own estate, but it's mostly empty because people think it too expensive (rent is about 10000 a year). So the roads around here are crammed with cars and it's impossible to use the sidewalk or the bicycle path. I would want to see people learn how to park in a decent manner, like not at random angles and not one meter from the curb and not occupying two spots, but, as Chinese people told me once, my mind is very simple.
