Flight Attendants Based in Xinjiang Begin Self-Defense Classes
Apr 24, 2014 By eChinacities.com

China Southern Airlines flight attendants based in Urumqi, Xinjiang, have started taking self defense classes following the March 1 attacks in Kunming. With China’s major airports increasing security measures, these attendants are being trained for a variety of situations by an air marshal in the People’s Liberation Army.

The slogan behind the campaign is, “How can you defend the passengers, if you can’t defend yourself?” With the Xinjiang area being a hotspot for dissident behavior, these attendants apparently need more protection than ever.

This is not a novel idea though, as other Asian airlines already train their attendants to deal with unexpected situations. Among those airlines Hong Kong Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair.

Strangely the picture is of the same place used in the "Hong Kong air hostesses learn Wing Chun" article. Same uniforms, same room. I smell bullshit again.

Very observant. Careless of the website to use the same picture set, then link the stories to eachother. It could still be true, though. Just that there wasn't an illustration readily availably, so they 'improvised'.
