Those Hainanese are at it again. From the island that brought you (until it was banned) nude sunbathing, and foreigners meditating in the nude, comes a new story of dedication, raising awareness and, well, a little weirdness.
Chen Qingzu, from Sanya, Hainan, has been collecting brassieres for over 20 years and has amassed a collection of more than 5,000. The majority of the bras come from students of more than 30 universities and colleges. Why exactly he was collecting the bras of university students is unclear but he has a good-willed plan on how to put them to good use.
Qing wants to open a museum with his entire collection on display with the goal of raising awareness of women’s breast health. We wish him well in his endeavors!
