Guangzhou May Day Celebration Will Feature 3,000 Armed Police Patrolling Streets

For the celebrations due to take place on the long weekend of May 1 to 3 for the May Day Holiday, Guangzhou Police have authorized around 3,000 armed men to patrol the streets and maintain order and safety. It is estimated that 10,000 people will venture out into the streets on May 1, so the 3,000 armed patrollers, plus the usual cops on duty, will equal to 5,000 officers on duty on that day. That means the police are allowing for one police officer for every 2 civilians.

There will also be police squad cars patrolling the city and 24-hour video surveillance. The idea is to make the citizens conscious of the level of security and therefore feel safer. Security all around the nation is being beefed up after the Kunming attacks.

Because nothing makes you safer than having poorly trained, corrupt thugs armed on the street.
