According to a new set of provisions which went into effect on April 1, taxi drivers in China are no longer permitted to ask the destination before customers have boarded the vehicle. The new provisions also prohibit a number of other common offenses, including handpicking customers, not turning on the taxi meter, negotiating fares and choosing longer routes.
What’s more, taxi drivers are now all required to wear company badges, are not allowed to eat or smoke in the cab, hurl rubbish or phlegm from their window. Finally, in what is perhaps the most ambitious part of the new rules, taxi drivers in China are now also expected to greet customers in a friendly manner, to kindly ask them to wear their seat belts and to ask customers whether they would like the air conditioner to be switched on.

People bitch about chinese taxis but Italian drivers are just as bad. I visited Rome with my gf over xmas and those scumbags might be even worse. Damn italy! Laughingstock of Europe! I just wish they wouldn't screw around with uber...which when available is freaking awesome. No more fighting over cabs with trashy line cutters! Figures they have to try and restrict it.
