According to the website of Japanese magazine,The Diplomat, 600,000 Chinese nationals die every year from being over worked as well as other work related stresses. The main causes cited are long working hours, poor conditions, low income and uncertain futures. The majority of these reported deaths are said to be suicide.

The report states that poor working conditions and high intensity labor have lead to Chinese workers needing a high resilience to withstand the psychological side effects of work related stress. The toughest industry, as reported, is the IT sector, where 98.8 percent of workers said that their job had a negative impact on their personal health.
