News Fines to be Implemented on Beijing’s Metro

On February 18 Beijing municipal government announced new laws about what you can and can’t do the metro. If you are caught smoking, begging, lying down or eating you could be fined as much as 500 RMB. People who climb on escalators could be fined 1,000 RMB. Crossing barriers, entering without paying and not listening to guards orders could find you fined anywhere between 50-1,000 RMB. And finally if you are found to be carrying anything in your bag that violates the “baggage regulations” you could get fined anywhere between 50-500 RMB.
