In February 2013 Chinese courts ruled that Li Yang, the Crazy English founder, had committed domestic violence, and granted Kim Lee a divorce. The court settled compensation charges: Li Yang was to pay 50,000 RMB for mental damage, 12 million for the house they shared and a 300,000 allowance each year for alimony. Flash forward a year and the two are back in court because Kim claims she has only received a remittance of 2.6 million RMB and hasn’t seen the rest of the money. Li Yang claims he has paid up.
After the 3 hours of proceedings Beijing news reporter Liu Yang quoted Li Yang saying, “I gave the money I should give, if you don’t believe check the transaction of 12 million RMB, Kim is being deliberately provocative.”
When the two were on the steps outside the courthouse talking to reporters Kim yelled, “I haven’t! I haven’t received the money!” With his hands in his pocket Li Yang responded with, “See, she’s mental, here we go again.”
The case is still under investigation.

I met Li Yang once. Let me tell you. He is a son of a b!tch. An absolute asshole. He loves being praised and enjoys standing above others. But, let's be honest... If it was a famous Chinese woman beaten by a white man. I mean beaten the same way... bloody, black and blue... This will be a big deal! It will be all over the news. Chinese men will be "protecting their women" and foreigners will be seen as the enemy. Chinese will be asking every foreigner they see, why foreigners beat women. Now, it is commonly known that 1/3 Chinese men beat their girlfriend or wives. Don't believe me.. look at the studies on domestic abuse in China. It's absolutely true. All of my female Chinese friends were hit by their boyfriend at some point. So... Why doesn't Chinese media not talk about this and why do Chinese people like to avoid the topic? Because... (It's about someone said it.) Many Chinese people are RACIST and SEXIST. ABSOLUTELY UNADULTERATED, UNFILTERED, NOT WATERED DOWN RACISM. That fact that this guy still has a school is because he pay off the government with dirty money and gets approval from other Chinese for beating foreign women! In Li Yang's own words: "All Chinese men beat there wives..." I hope he chokes on a doggy d!ck.

I agree with you 100%. Why is it that a drunk foreigner, happy on his most important holiday, can have a camera and mic shoved into his face for a candid interview and then he says "I love you, show me your boobs", then get threatened and destroyed by Chinese people for his indecent behavior, but wife-beater Li Yang seems to pass through day to day life as if it's nothing? I mean which is worse? A Russian Cellist popping off on a train gets fired from his job, rightfully so, and yet people still support Crazy English as if it were the only way to improve English to the level of "native English user"? I hope the court finds this man guilty and tosses his worthless bum in prison until he fulfills the agreements he was supposed to fulfill, same as foreigners do when they lose lawsuits in China due to crooked behavior. China, if you were smart, you'd dump Li Yang into the toilet and make an example of him much like you did a certain former powerful politician in the past year, to be forever forgotten. He is giving all Chinese a black eye and I hope that the world never forgets a wife beater's name, same as any other criminal. I don't think every Chinese guy is a wife beater and he must bring unwanted negative attention by those words. Where is Yang Rui? Why isn't he calling for "Sweeping out the Wife Beating trash in China" on his Weibo?

This creep Li Yang set the standard for English teachers to be dancing bears. I hope he loses everything. And he has no place to be calling anyone crazy, the way he used fascist/nationalist rhetoric against his foreign ex-wife. "Crazy English: English the Chinese way."
