Man Does Shoddy Job at Making Car Look Like a Mercedes Benz

Man Does Shoddy Job at Making Car Look Like a Mercedes Benz
Feb 11, 2014 By eChinacities.com

On February 6 police arrested a man driving a Mercedes Benz or at least from the outside it looked like a Mercedes Benz. The car had Mercedes Benz on the license plate. But it turns out the car is fake and is actually a model made by the Chinese automotive manufactures, BYD. The owner had just added some Mercedes Benz accessories to the outside.

Mr Zhou explained that he’d “pimped his ride” because he wanted to impress his family and friends when he went home for Chinese New Year. He wanted to appear to be a “successful person”.

At present the car has been impounded, Mr. Zhou has been fined 1,500 RMB for making unauthorized changes, 200 RMB for the license plate, and 12 points were deducted off his drivers license. Not looking quite so successful now, are you Mr. ZHou.

Pathetic; to lie and brag to inflate one's value, a result of their pathological face culture.

Lol, guess the intellectual property police haven't realized that Baidu, Weibo, Renren, Dianping, Youku, and a slew of other major companies are just copies of Google, Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, Youtube, etc..not to mention the tens, probably hundreds of thousands of places that sell fakes every day. Poor guy

Yeah I don't understand how that's a crime. I mean it's tacky as hell but how is it illegal? I know somebody back home who put all Benz logos on their hyundai as an obvious gag...I mean you bought the car you can put whatever logo you want on it. If I cross off motorola on my phone and put a samsung sticker on it can I be arrested?

Oh, maybe because he had a fake license plate...that's probably why.

Hahaha... so stupid on all accounts. The guy for making the changes (which I can understand actually). The government for giving him a fine for modifications and taking points off his drivers license (did he drive it poorly? WTH?) And China in general for allowing BYD to rip off a model of LEXUS and then say it's not okay to copy others... China... seriously? Sometimes China can be stupid on so many levels it baffles me.

Random rules imposed to those without guanxi, for having the gall to pretend to drive around in a car that would make people jealous. What's wrong with this culture? Not the consumer culture, not the brand-name worship - this guy just needs to be fined for being CREATIVE!

How is making "changes" to his car a crime? Especially when the BYD S6 is a carbon copy of a Lexus.
