Police Beat Man Suspected of Paying for Sex, Was Actually With His Wife
Jan 03, 2014 By eChinacities.com

On December 31 in Hanzhong, Shaanxi, police entered a bath house suspecting that it was being used an undercover brothel. Upon entering room 302 they discovered messy bed sheets and both male and female clothes piles which furthered roused their suspicions.

Mr Lee and his pregnant wife were taking a shower when the police burst in and accused them of showering in order to hide the evidence of prostitution. When the couple protested the police beat the man, all while filming the event on a handheld device. The couple’s story that they were, in fact, husband and wife was later verified, much to the embarrassment of the local police.

The police have issued a public apology and have removed the photos taken during the raid from the internet. Maybe the police were just a little bit over zealous towards the end of the year.

Suing the government is difficult in any country; suing the police, even more so. Suing the police in a police state? Good luck with that. Even if you win, it probably won't be much, and the aftermath may make you wish you'd lost. It's very likely a lose-lose proposition. The only reason you hear about big paydays for egregious police behavior in some countries is those countries have a media which is free to criticize the government. Does that exist in this situation?

How about the police turn their attentions towards upholding some of the laws that do exist in this developing country? That might assist them in overcoming some of the mirth that's quite rightly directed their way. I'm thinking Keystone Cops here. Although, if my memory serves me correctly, at least the Keystone Cops would ATTEMPT to uphold the law.
