Kangtai is responsible for over half the hepatitis vaccinations in the country, and had a 'respected brand' status in the country before this incident (and we all know how important rep is in China's "we know where you live" economy). My wife tells me news reports up to 8 deaths now. 1 occurred close to where I live in Sichuan. News is also reporting that 2 other Beijing vaccine companies are experiencing problems, but that may be the traditional finger-pointing after the fallout. Scary that the gov't mandates dozens of compulsory vaccinations for a myriad of diseases throughout people's childhood, while failing to safeguard the vaccinations. You can't bring your child to school without proof of vaccination. Yet another reason to avoid Chinese hospitals and education like the plague. Pun intended, tasteless as it may be.
