Beijing Deported 200 Foreigners in 2013
Dec 20, 2013 By eChinacities.com

According to the city’s General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, Beijing deported approximately 200 foreigners in 2013. Most of the foreigners were deported for entering the country illegally, holding illegal visa, or working illegally. Some were sent from other provinces to the capital for deportation.

According to current Chinese entry-exit regulations, foreigners are not allowed to come into China within five years if they have been repatriated for unqualified or illegal certificates. If foreigners have served jail time they are usually automatically repatriated upon completion of their sentence.

That 200 figure is off by one zero. It was approximately 2,000 foreigners that were deported according to BTV News and it was even more in 2014 because of the new visa policies that kicked in in September of 2013. Finding statistics in China about stuff like this is a bitch. From Wudaokou alone they rounded up and deported about 60 foreign teachers last year who did not have Z visas.

Well it is time we stopped being classed or classing ourselves as foreigners and helped these poor underdeveloped people use terms like...international people...overseas people...people from abroad....come on you English teachers get this mesage across and level the playing field....

Crazy idea... maybe we ask for the same level of basic respect that they would get back in our countries.

Yet another racism reflex from the ridiculous staff at eChinacities. They are always putting photos of Black people when the story involves negative events about foreigners. But when it's positive, they will quickly bow and crawl of the floor to kiss their white masters feet and lick their butt. Keep smoking that opium, China.

If you think that China is racist against only blacks, you haven't spent much time in China. Every non-yellow is a detestable "foreigner", and to be treated as "one of... them". There's so much more to Chinese xenophobia than just anti-black.

A recent article on this site stated that there are about 600.000 foreigners living in China now (meaning the ones that have settled down here, not the tourists). Now 200 have been deported. That's 0.33 promille of the foreign population. And it includes the ones that ripped off a tobacconist or rode their bike into a Chinese citizen, but the majority had some visa-issue. So what does that mean for the rate of crime committed by foreigners? I think, ladies & gentlemen, that we can be proud of ourselves!

Wish there was more info to this article. I would like to know personally which nationals were deported in which percentage. Instead of just saying "200" foreigners, maybe a little more journalism that number can be broken down. The picture suggests (of course not certain) many of them were Africans, does anyone know if that is the case?

Agreed. You would think that a website for foreigners would use less chinese journalism methods and stop treating the world like it only has 2 countries. China and foreign country. If your just translating a chinese newspaper, stop being lazy and do a little work people.

Here, that took two minutes, not a complete list by any means but at least this article mentions that the majority are from developing poor countries and their crimes were, fake documents, passports , id ect, and overstaying visas. Good job poster, imagine what you could accomplish if you spent even 10 minutes actually working! http://www.china.org.cn/china/2013-12/20/content_30952786.htm

Thank you Mike, That's embarassing eChinacities. When your readers can get more info elsewhere you cease to really give meaning to your articles. Please be more informative in the future rather than just quick generalizations.
