Looking for an international school but not sure which one is right for your child? As we all know, international schools usually have great facilities, certified teachers and stellar curricula. 1) Britannica International SchoolView In Map
This is the newest international school in Shanghai. So far, there is only one campus which can be found in the Gubei area. The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum, but they also offer the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma Program. Since this school just opened in 2013, all of its facilities, classrooms and equipment are brand new. The school holds a capacity of up to 750 students.

2) British International School Shanghai (BISS)
This school has two campuses, one in Pudong and the other in Puxi. BISS extra-curricular activities include Model United Nations, science club, chess, football, netball, basketball, swimming and yoga to name a few.
The Puxi campus also offers a Dutch language program. This is a bilingual program where students learn mainly in English, but also have Dutch language and culture classes. However, this program is only offered to toddlers and students up to year 6.

3) Shanghai American School (SAS)
Their two campuses are located in Pudong and Puxi. If you’re looking for one of the top schools that uses American curriculum, then SAS is the right choice for you. During year 9, students can either choose to take courses in the AP (Advance Placement) program or IB Diploma Program. SAS also has an excellent Performing Arts Center (at the Puxi campus), making for an exceptionally good dance team. The Center also hosts professional musicals and theatre. What a way to inspire the children.

4) Dulwich College
This school is a partner school with Dulwich College London. The school offers enhanced English National curriculum and the IB Diploma Program for years 12 and 13. There are two campuses, both in Pudong. The main campus is for Primary and Secondary and the other campus, referred to as DUCKS, is for Pre-K and Kindergarten. They have a variety of different extra-curricular activities including basketball, football, rugby, netball, volleyball, dance, chess, yoga and swimming. The school organises several musical events throughout the year, including a music trip every summer where choir students work with the world famous Vienna Boys’ Choir.

Completely agree. Those tuition fees are completely out of proportion. I mean, some of them work out to more than 20,000 RMB per month! Nah, public schools are the way to go. I'm sure the teaching quality is probably as good as most int. schools and your kid gets to mingle with all kinds of different people. That's the best form of education you can get, really.

Disgusting how a decent education is reserved only for those with money to waste. I'll probably do an even better job if I home tutor my own kid, and it seems there's little choice with these prices. Hopefully I can get out of China within the next few years, before my baby boy is school age. Then he'll get a decent western education, without rote-learning morons, or spoilt embassy kids to make him feel bad with their posturing displays of obscene wealth. They're so fashion kids!
