Female Student Contracts HIV After Sleeping With 8 Men While Abroad: Netizens Can’t Decide Who to Blame

Female Student Contracts HIV After Sleeping With 8 Men While Abroad: Netizens Can’t Decide Who to Blame
Dec 04, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Recently the news of a female university student going abroad for half a year, having one-night stands with eight foreign men and coming home to find out she contracted HIV has hit Chinese media. While she was abroad, she stayed in touch with friends back home and told them she had slept with over eight different men while she was away.  After coming back to China, she went for a STD check and the doctors informed her that she had contracted HIV.

This is a tragic story that happens to many people, but when this kind of story breaks, one can always trust in netizens the world over to distribute an equal amount of support and sympathy as they do condemnation and disgust. A particular favorite comment is ours was: “Silly! Can foreign students help you go abroad? TOEFL and IELTS is King!”

Well lets hope they leave her alone soon enough.

An alternative lead into the article might be: "chinese student faces potential charges overseas for infecting 7 local nationals with HIV"

Further proof that the story is false. Visa seekers don't go after students. They go after guys who have money.

I don't know who translated this article. To me, it would be something like this.[Chinese title of that article]: 女大学生为出国与8名留学生"一夜情"染艾滋>>>>"Female university student who wanted to go abroad slept with 8 foreign students got HIV" Body of the articele[一位大四女孩,为了出国,通过微信不断加国外留学生为好友。不到半年时间里,竟和8名留学生发生“一夜性”,当她在艾滋病自愿检测门诊查出阳性时,瞬间花容失色,大声痛哭……]>>>>>"One fourth year university student, wanting to go abroad, through "wei-xin" keep adding and befriending foreign students. Within half a year, she had one night stands with eight foreign students. She broke into tears and cried hysterically at the clinic after learning she contracted HIV.">>>>>Notice, nowhere did the article say she wanted to study abroad. Just go abroad. In this regard, she is no different than many other Chinese girls who spread their legs for a foreign passport. Nothing new. For decades, plenty have been doing that. HIV? You pay for what you get. She pays for it that way, without even getting what she wants. Bad business deal. The eight foreign students are likely going to pay for it in their own way. No free lunch.

Dormitory living makes it difficult to nookie in China, that's why so much easier at a foreign University or country. What a foolish woman indeed.

HIV AIDS is rare to show up in such a short time. It is likely to have happened any time with any of her previous sexual partners. Here or abroad; the former most likely. Think of the smorgasboard of men available in China. From almost every country (Nigerian a pleanty too, the origin of HIV). Contraception is available all 'round the world, but a uni grad is not intelligent enough to know that. Well young lady, you're lucky. You could have upto a 20 year latent period but deal with it sooner than later. Get them retro drugs into you. The cost'll teach you a lesson or two.

This is the kind of rubbish the Chinese media are prinitng. No facts or evidence to support the claims, just another crack at foreigners. If we accept the facts of the story correspond to truthful events, it well may be the case that HIV was contracted already in China and the study abroad period was just the reason one needs back home. One other underlining reason for this and many other cases is the lack of sexual education and sexual culture among youngsters.

Has anyone given any thought to the fact that this Chinese foreigner could have infected up to 7 unsuspecting national residents, and all the resulting second-hand infections those men could have passed on to other glorious nationals? Wait, they're not Chinese, so strike that. I mean: passed on to other foreign nationals in their own country.

Guest2343106, It's not called "revenge". It's called manslaughter, and is punishable to the full extent of the law back home if you knowingly give someone HIV.

I don't know who translated this article but it is translated so wrong. The link which this translation is from says is actually an article on aids and this is just one of the examples in the article. It says that this girl who is in her 4th year of university wanted to go abroad, so she continously to add foreign students using social networking chats. Over a period of 6 months, she had one nightstands with eight foreign students. The rest if the paraphagh is about how aids has an incubation period of 2-10 years and some other info the doctor told her. (BTW this all happened in China, she never went abroad - whoever translated that link basically made up most of this article, there are no netizens placing blame, it's an article on aids.

Why does she point out that she slept with foreigners? To save face of course. My guess she caught it from that professor who gave her high enough marks to go over seas. Just a thought.

Now that she is back home will she continue with her slutty behaviour and infect a few local lads? By the way, doing that in my country is considered a criminal offence when you know you have HIV. Does China have that law?

I'm fine with girls having sex with lots of different guys over a few months. But damn it wear a freak'in condom !!! If it's not to avoid infecting partners, at least to not get infected ! And as mentioned above HIV can be dormant for years. Sexual education in China seems close to nothing :p

I find it hard to believe that she went from celibate to banging 8 guys in half a year (wouldn't be surprised if it were 4-5 months, as a semester abroad tends to be shorter - not that it matters). Sure, as an Asian girl in some Western country she probably got more attention than she was used to, but like everyone else mentioned before, I'm sure she had some good times back home and may well have contracted it before/after going abroad. Besides, isn't it her own responsibility to have safe sex, or at least try and figure out whether the guys are 'clean'? This story lacks so much information it's hard to tell what exactly is going on. If someone knew he had HIV and carried it over to her, that is some very bad luck and a crappy situation to have to go through, but the story doesn't imply that she was all that careful herself... I find it interesting, by the way, how any foreigner-related issues seem to be either biased as hell or completely lacking specifics which could completely turn a story around. Perhaps this whole situation has something to do with China's lacking (or so I keep reading) sexual education system?

I have never met a woman that would tell many friends about her one-nighters, Chinese are so judgemental. And why are foreigners in their own country refereed to as foreigners? And why not reveal which country she was in? And why wasn't she using condoms for her one-nighters? This seems like a made up story tarnish the idea of going abroad.

Who says she got it while she was abroad? HIV can stay dormant for over 13 years. And by the way, if she was abroad having sex with foreigners, doesn't that mean she was having one night ears with other Chinese people?
