Anger is Never a Good Thing

Anger is Never a Good Thing

Today is one of those days you just want to get home and just drop in bed and doze off, at least thats how i felt, i had a full day at work and decided to take the bus home which was just 45 minutes away....ok to the main reason am writing this, as a foreigner i hear a lot of people say that some chinese have really bad tempers and i got to see it first hand today (and i thought Africans had bad tempers) this guy got into the bus with us....everthing was cool until the lady who collects the money asked for the bus fair.....then all drama was let loose and they started arguing so loudly i had to turn and see what the issue was, but because of my lack of understanding the chinese language the only thing i got was....'CHIEN ....CHIEN (MONEY-hope i spelled that right) anyway...they got into it for five minute back and forth, back and forth, now they had the attention of every one in the bus.....the man would not part with the money and the bus driver had to stop twice because the lady asked him to.....the man must have said something really awful coz the lady walked to the front of the bus and picked a broom (i laughed a little coz it seemed funny at the time) but when she hit the man all hell broke loose and the man hit back so people in the bus tried to separate them...to tell you the truth it was seriously crazy....finally they were separated and put in different seats.

As each of them sat down the lady was still so angry and started to make phone call, to whom, i dont know but either the police or her husband.....there could be many guesses.....after that it was quiet until we reached our first stop in my town then the lady opened the door for two men (who looked really serious) so i assumed it was the police. when they approached the man who was accused by the lady he removed a knife and stubbed one of the guys trying to get to him on the neck.....it was soo scary coz the guys artery was oozing a big amount of blood and all of us in the bus were now in a little bit of shock but we managed to give some cloth to cover his wounds as our bus turned and started looking for the nearest hospital, the knife was confisticated by the lady and more men were called to subdue the culprit.

Anyway to make this long story short, i just wanted to say ANGER leads to no good. I pray that the man in hospital recovers well and soon and both the lady and the man deal with what started all this in the first place. I got home safe but am no longer as tired as I thought.

Blame the penalties here for causing such blind panicked reactions. Death penalty given out for too many things. Excessive payoffs required by victims. These idiots probably think: "If you're gonna cripple my family, I might as well make sure you don't profit from it." And the only surefire guarantee of that is their death (though the deceased's family may still profit). There is no gray area because people are conditioned to think in black-and-white, no lateral thought, no consideration, nothing but the immediate needs of their own family unit.

Nice article, quite the show. I had a similar incident... Some Chinese men got into a beer bottle barrage over god knows what... They didn't actually say anything, both were drunk and just started smashing bottles over their heads. Anyway, one got knocked unconcious (we just met him that night beforehand). So we decided to help him out and take him to the hospital. Blood everywhere, the next day... he's back in the bar chatting like nothing happened.

CHIEN... heheh... the Pin Yin spelling is "tian", if that matters. Great story. This kind of story is probably about a junkie being all-out rude. He spent all his money on drugs, but still needs to go where he needs to go. The lady sounds like one of the few people in China brave enough to speak out about antisocial behaviour, and I'm sure the ordeal only served to reinforce the merits of Chinese Ostrich Syndrome. It's always best to remain calm in front of drug-addled minds, and it seems the junkie showed some measure of restraint to the lady with the broomstick, only choosing to pull out the knife when he was met with overpowering force. I've encountered lots of rude people and junkies in buses before, and all I can say is don't provoke them and avoid displaying your wallet to them when it's time to pay. That lady should have called straight away, instead of engaging in conflict with the junkie. And more muscle should have been present, preferably in uniform, too. Where's the chengguan when you need them?

No it is not spelt "tian" it is spelt "qian"... "tian" can mean, sky, sweet or a number or other things. The difference between the "t" and "q" is like a "teeh" and a "chiii". Sorry hard to correct you or else Chinese won't know what you are saying... even with the tiny difference.

It was for me too at first, my wife kept correcting me when I said the wrong one like chong, tong, cong, qiong... I was like... that's what I said!... She was right but it was really TOUGH to figure out the subtle differences... and totally new to the tongue too.
