Two Foreigners Lose Millions in Shanghai Phone Scam

The Shanghai Pudong Public Security Bureau recently received a call about a 20 million Yuan phone scam involving a foreigner. According to reports, a foreigner received a threatening phone call by someone claiming to be from a public security institution and amidst the confusion transferred 20 million Yuan into a so-called “secure account”. On the same day, another similar scam was reported in Pudong New Area; this time a foreigner was scammed of 4 million Yuan. The two cases are currently under investigation.
