According to information released by the Shanghai Changning District Public Security Bureau, a bar on Ziyun West Road in Shanghai was busted by authorities after a plot to use attractive women to lure in and scam foreign customers was discovered. Thirty people were arrested during the raid on October 24.

Suspicions against this Shanghai bar scam first came to attention after a British man was lured in by an unknown woman (who was secretly employed by the bar) and was charged 28,000 RMB for Wulong tea and a massage.

This year in August, a number of other complaints made by foreign men were reported to the Changning Public Security Bureau. It was reported that the men were coerced into spending large amounts of money at the bar and those who refused to comply were threatened.

It is claimed that a large number of foreign men have been scammed by this bar, but only a handful have come forward to make a complaint. It is also reported that bar earned over 600,000 RMB in illegal funds within just two weeks of its opening.
