Ms Yao, a mother from a village in Xinhuang County located in the jurisdiction of the city of Huaihua, gave birth to a baby weighing approximately 3.7 kg. However, the astounding part of this otherwise miracle of life is that this baby has two teeth growing from her lower jaw, giving her the appearance of a rabbit.

Grandmother relates that there is a local superstition that states babies born with teeth have an “evil horoscope” reading, and will rise up against their family – especially against their own parents. For this reason, the grandmother wants the doctor to pull out these “affected” teeth. However, the doctor advised against it, saying such an act is detrimental towards the baby and that it is likely the teeth will fall out of their own accord.

Doctors say this medical condition is rarely seen. Under questioning, the mother admits that because she was suffering from a calcium deficiency, she took calcium supplements, something the doctor suspects is the cause for this strange growth.
