China’s Ministry of Agriculture is reportedly weighing up a ban on the sale of illegally bred dogs.

Wang Wu, Deputy Director of the China Animal Agricultural Association National Kennel Club stated that only certified dog centers will be allowed to breed puppies.

The proposal comes following a series of attacks by unruly dogs on people in the past few months, and also follows a recent ban on dogs taller than 35cm in Beijing.

Zhang Yue, of the Beijing Loving Animals Foundation, has urged residents to be more responsible when walking their dogs to avoid potential conflict with fellow pedestrians.

Regarding if and when the ban will take place however, there is no current information.
