Carrefour in Beijing has hit the headlines again just two days after a fatal stabbing incident occurred at a store in Maliandao. News has just emerged that the Carrefour in Shuangjing, a popular supermarket frequently visited by expats, burst into flames at around 15:00 on July 24.

Firefighters received an emergency call at 15:03 and immediately rushed to the scene. The fire reportedly engulfed over 70 meters of the supermarket and was finally extinguished at 15:36. Eyewitnesses stated that flames were over two meters high and seemed to come from the 4th floor of the warehouse. Customers and staff were quickly evacuated but it is unclear what caused the fire, whether there were any injuries and how much damage has been done.

It spread over 70 meters, the size of a small apartment was damaged then. Flames were 2m high, about the height of a camp fire. I wouldn't want to stand in a camp fire either, that would be absurd. Even though it isn't massive, and it didn't burst into flames, unless you used an accelerant.

That is not a 'massive fire' and the store did not 'burst into flames'. Come on ecc you can do better.
