Geese Police: Feathered Friends Help Patrol the Streets in Xinjiang

In Xinjiang’s Shawan County, geese are being used by the police to patrol the streets and keep locals in line, and are reportedly being “actively promoted” across the region.

“Among all poultry, geese are known for being extremely vigilant and having excellent hearing,” explained local Chief Zhang Quansheng. Zhang went on to proudly claim that, “Geese are very brave. They spread their wings and will attack strangers entering someone’s home.”

Despite the influx of countless “whys” and “hows” that are probably popping into everyone’s brains regarding this story, the geese have reportedly proved effective recently. Police said that back in June, a gaggle of geese was able to apprehend a man who had broken into the local police HQ to steal a motorbike. After climbing a wall, the man was met by around 20 geese that kept guard at the gate. The geese then fanned their wings and made such a racket that a nearby policeman was woken up and the thief was then caught.

Reminds me of a scene from the movie Midnight Express. The prisoner is told about the 'guard turkeys'. 'They don't go to sleep, they make a lot of noise and the don't get raped'.

'The geese then fanned their wings and made such a racket that a nearby policeman was woken up and the thief was then caught.' So the policeman at the police station was 'woken up'? Seems the geese are better police than the men!
