Jul 22, 2013 By eChinacities.com

On Saturday July 20 at 18:24, a wheelchair bound man set off a home-made explosive device in terminal 3 of Beijing Capital Airport. No-one except the wheelchair user was injured and no flights were disrupted. The man was identified as Ji Zhongxing, a Shandong man born in 1979.

Details have begun to emerge about the man’s motivations for the incident. It turns out his extreme act at Beijing Capital Airport was to petition against Dongguan security officials who beat him and left him paralyzed eight years ago. Ji apparently warned passersby at the airport to keep a distance, and has since won the support of thousands of netizens.

According to CCTV, the Public Security Bureau in Guangdong has asked the Dongguan branch to carry out a thorough investigation into the mistreatment claims by Ji Zhongxing.
