US Company Develops Travel Capsules: New York to Beijing in 2 Hours
Jul 17, 2013 By eChinacities.com

One American company is supposedly developing capsules that will apparently be able to transport passengers from New York to Beijing in two hours.

The capsules, which will be able to reach speeds of around 6,500km per hour, will also be able to travel around the world in less than six hours, and will reportedly be placed in a pipeline before they are blasted off towards their destination. The revolutionary transport system intends to combines the efficiency of maglev trains with the efficiency of moving through an airless environment.

Engineer Daryl Oster came up with the idea in the 90s, and in 1997 gained a patent for his product. Elon Musk, CEO of electric car company Tesla Motors, has expressed his support towards the idea and believes that the capsules will be very safe and will be able to withstand all different types of weather. The pipelines, which will be built over ground, will reportedly only cost ¼ of the price of highways and 1/10 of the price of railway tracks.

The company has also announced that each capsule will weigh 183kg, will be 16-feet long, and will be able to hold between four to six passengers and their luggage.

Shut up dude. The only thing you are a victim of is your own stupidity! these flying capsules sound nice but just like the flying cars and other great inventions only the super rich will ever get to benefit them. The poor and middle class will never get to enjoy these. In that sense big deal.

Pretty amazing. I do hope someone gets this project in testing. The fact that the Tesla CEO believes in this project is telling to me that it is realistic and could be built once enough investment money is put into it.
