13,000 Cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease Reported in Beijing This Year

Up until June 23, there have been around 13,000 cases of hand, food and mouth disease reported in Beijing. There has been no report as to the number of people who have died from the illness.

Hand, foot and mouth often strikes children, with children under the age of five making up 90% of the cases reported.

Symptoms of the disease include high fever, shallow breathing, lack of energy and an increased heart beat.
