73.3% of Beijingers Killed by 3 Types of Deadly Illnesses in 2012

On June 18, the Beijing Municipal Government released a paper that revealed some worrying statistics regarding the health of the people of Beijing. The paper stated that malignant tumours, heart disease, and cerebrovascular disease accounted for 73.3% of all deaths in Beijing in 2012.

For the sixth year in a row, malignant tumours came out on top as the biggest killer of them all. It was found that the area in Beijing that had the highest ratio of the illness was Fengtai District, while the lowest ratio was in Yanqing County.

Furthermore, it was found that 60% of students in middle schools and primary schools in the city were short-sighted, and 20% were overweight.
