Famed for their prevalence in Japan, love hotels serve as the perfect remedy for young couples looking for somewhere to go away from the sight and knowledge of their parents. Although not known for their popularity in China yet, the country’s ever-modernizing youth will surely pave the way for the love hotel business to bloom in the coming years.
In Taiyuan, the city’s first love hotel—“1988”—is set to open its doors soon, and is notable for its sickly romantic décor and dreamy interior design.
The dimly-lit rooms feature a large red circular bed that is surrounded by curtains, and are peppered with all kinds of cutesy soft toys and even a lip-shaped telephone. According to the hotel’s employees, the hotel has already received a lot of enquires; largely by those in their early 20s.
